Since the early 1980's Myricks Airfield has hosted an annual Fly In.  The initial events were gatherings of esoteric antique and experimental aircraft owners aroused by the spirited Commander John Powell.  John and his wife were significant leaders in the Pacific theater of WWII.  Following his military service John designed, built and sold plans for the Acey Ducey experimental aircraft.  Of late the event has morphed into a diverse, aircraft, sports car and motorcycle grill fed family event sponsored by EAA Chapter 196, www.EAA196.org.  Formal EAA chapter sponsorship provides accident insurance that has become important in todays litigious environment.  The Fly In has historically been scheduled on the third Sunday of September
